Woman stabs her friend because she thought he was a turkey

A woman was arrested  on a charge of assault after allegedly stabbing her friend because she mistook him for turkey, police in Florida said.

Lake Park police said that they have arrested 37-year-old Shawtaine Hayes, after she was accused of stabbing her friend, who was not identified, with a large kitchen knife and threatening a woman.

Hayes was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated battery. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, and her bail was set $15,000.

Hayes denied the allegations, saying that her friend stabbed himself. The victim also denied the allegations, saying that Hayes stabbed him because she thought he was a turkey.

According to the police investigation, on Saturday around 1:30 p.m., Hayes started arguing with a woman and the man. Hayes had been drinking vodka since early that morning, and was very intoxicated.

Hayes then grabbed a knife, raised it above the woman’s head and threatened her. At some point, she also stabbed the man.

Police found him in the emergency room of the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center with injuries to his stomach and right shoulder.

The victim told police that he did not think the stabbing was intentional because the defendant thought he was a turkey.

Police found two knives in the kitchen sink. One of the knives was bloody.
